I am seeking information on the Boulter family. My great-great grandfather James BOULTER, settled in Texas in 1835 (Nacodoches Archives list of 1835 Entrance Certificates, certificate #175 isssued May 4, 1835). He was born in England approx. 1796 and came to the U.S. and married a woman named Elizabeth (last name unknown)in approx. 1825. She was born in Mississippi in approx. 1811. They lived for a time in Alabama and Tennessee before coming to Texas. James BOULTER was award a Headright grant of a league and a labor (4,605 acres). He appears on the 1840 Citizens of Texas Tax Rolls with 4428 acres in Nacodoches County. He appears in the 1850 Census residing in Cherokee County with wife Elizabeth and children Alfred, William, James, Edward, Young, Anderson, Mary & Augustus. He probably died somewhere between 1853 & 1860, since Elizabeth appears as the head of household in the 1860 census. My great grandfather Young Lacy BOULTER was born Sept. 5, 1841, in Cherokee County. He married Alvina Julia Ann Boles on June 9, 1868, and was residing in Cherokee Co. at the time of the 1870 census. By the late 1870's or 80's, he moved the family to Mills County near Goldthwaite. My grandmother, Lena Frances BOULTER was born on July 7, 1881, in Goldthwaite. She married Andrew Newman ALLEN on December 6, 1895. She died on Oct. 10, 1958, in Temple, Texas. Andrew Newman ALLEN died March 17, 1922, in Belton, Texas.

I was wondering if anyone there could give me some information on the HURST Ranch. People in Hamilton County thought you might have information about it in Mills County. I would like to know if you know when it was started, who owned it, the man's name who started it, and any other information you might have. It was obviously dissolved, and we cannot find out any information regarding it. My husband's father believed that his great-grandfather started the ranch, but we can find no informaiton. We can only go back as far as a Samuel Thomas HURST, born in 1871 and lived in either Hamilton or Mills County in 1900 after he was married and died in 1925 in Star Texas. Also, we are having a dispute, is Star Texas in Mills County or in Lampassas County. Any information you could give me about the HURST Ranch would be greatly appreciated. I really enjoy the Gen Web and have gotten quite a bit of information so far. Am also looking for a Charles H. Query: Jacob Conner moved to Mills County in the late 1890's. His brother, Joe Conner came to Mills County around 1905. Jacob's farm was located near the Trigger Mountain Church while Joe's farm was located on the Williams Ranch road near the Williams Cemetary. Query: . We are looking for any available information on Emily HOWARD and her first husband, John Nathan GOINS - (last name may be spelled GOIN, GOEN, GOENS, GOING, GOINGS, GOWEN, GOWENS). She is believed to have lived the last several years of her life in Cleburne, Johnson County, and we believe she is buried there, death date & cemetery info unknown.
We have the following about Emily HOWARD: According to LDS records, she was born Emily R.JONES in 1853 in Athens, Henderson County and her father was Frederick JONES, mother was Harriet (?). She had a son by John Nathan GOINS. We have been unable as yet to find record of her marriage to John Nathan GOINS, but according to LDS records, she was divorced from him. Under her maiden name, E.R. JONES, she married J.B. HOWARD December 23, 1877 in Comanche County. She appears in the Mills County 1910 Census at age 57, with her husband Joab HOWARD, age 63. It is unknown when she moved to Cleburne, or how old she was when she died.
We have the following about John Nathan GOINS: According to LDS records, he was born in 1849 in Athens, Henderson County, but according to Brown County 1920 census record showing his son John GOINS as head of household, under "birthplace of father" he was born in France. Family oral tradition says he was "French and Indian". His name was given as "Nath Goins" on his son's death certificate.
This son he had by Emily R. Jones was my wife's grandfather, John Christopher Columbus GOINS, b. 17 July 1875 in Athens. In the index to the 1880 Comanche County census, a Joab HOWARD is listed as head of household, and in the same household is listed "GOEN(?), John C.", age 5 which corresponds with the birthdate given and is consistent with his mother's marriage to Mr. Howard three years previous.
We will be glad to share any information we have with anyone searching same surnames, locations, etc.
