Noted from the published book, "A No Man's Land Becomes a County" by Flora Gatlin Bowles and copyrighted by the Mills County Historical Society, 1958 (Mrs. J. A. Hester, President), on page 229 and from the published book, "Mills County Memories", compiled and Copyrighted by the Mills County Historical Commission, 1994, on Page 56 -there are identical write up's about Reverend John Tisdale.

Also I spoke with Ben Davis, Current President of the Rock Springs Cemetery Association and he told me the same story on Rev. Tisdale as handed down to him.

Reverend John Tisdale who was a Methodist Minster and one of the first settlers in this area *, built a large log cabin in 1874 on the old Williams Ranch Road, which is now a dead end road. According to the story, he liked the Large Oak tree across from the Cabin and said that he was to be buried under this Oak tree that he trimmed and took care of for that purpose. He also has the distinction of being the first person buried in what is now called the Rock Springs Cemetery. After Rev. Tisdale's death, his Cabin was used as a school until it burned down a few years later.
